Welcome!

Rose Island Radio is a commmercial-free internet radio station broadcasting from Charlestown, Indiana. (Listen Now). We offer a growing selection of traditional folk songs of the British Isles and early America. Our catalogue includes vintage and new interpretations of traditional folk songs from the British Isles and across the pond to Appalachia to the banks of the Ohio to Puget Sound.

Rose Island Radio takes its name from the Rose Island amusement park that was once a thriving entertainment attraction for residents in Louisville, Kentucky and Charlestown, Madison and other Indiana communities in the 1920s and 1930s. It was located along the Ohio River in what is now Charlestown State Park. Thanks to a park-led restoration effort, visitors to the park can walk the grounds of the old amusement park and learn of its history while taking in beautiful views of the Ohio River.

We post occasional brief articles on our Posts page. These articles explore traditional British Isle and early American folk music and folkways.

Rose Island Radio is real folk for real people. Tune in, step back from the modern noise, and reconnect with the deep roots that is traditional folk music. We’re glad you found us.
